What is Broadband:
Broadband, also
known as 'wideband', is a term used to compare a frequency bandwidth.
These broadband frequencies can transmit more data and at a higher speed
than narrowband frequencies. Broadband is capable of carrying multiple
voice, video or data channels simultaneously. Each "channel" will take
up a different frequency or specific time slot on the cable.
What is a Broadband Network?
A broadband
network is a network that uses multiple carrier frequencies to transmit
multiplexed signals on a single cable. Several networks may coexist on a
single cable without interfering with one another.
What is a Broadband Router?
A broadband
router allows you to share your connection with and between multiple
computers. It uses a technique called NAT (Network Address Translation)
to share your IP address assigned by your cable provider with all your
computers. Broadband routers also provide features such as firewalls to
make your computers secure while on the Internet.
